Last night The Coos Art Musuem opened the 17th Annual Maritime Art Exhibit with a Plein Air paint out, dinner and silent auction and one helluva good time. Maybe it was the simple, but beautiful music provided by Candace Krietlow and her magical harp. (I knew she was coming and had heard her at the Finely Wrought opening, so I brought my lunch money, from home and bought a CD. ya git to have a plan.) Maybe it was the wonderful food served by The Coachhouse. (Went there for lunch Tuesday so I knew all about them too. The worst thing that can happen when to check things out early is you get a fantastic meal.) It could have been all of the work and organization the museum staff did before anyone arrived, maybe the participating artists or the thoughtful selection of the juried entries or maybe it was magic. Everyone had a good time...
Emily had a word before the festivities got under way...
Steven checked over his notes...
Carla watched from the wings...
Del listened...
Dutch listened...
And Liz made sure everyone had something to make all the listening light...
John and Archi double-checked the awards list...
Anne and Jan waited with baited breath...
When all was said and done everyone was pleased, not so bad for an event that's been done before, but never so well. Thanks to all who worked so hard to make the Maritime opening such a success and to all who opened their wallets, (that's right, the husbands and boyfriends who were drafted to nod and pay), and to those few, those precious few, who stayed to clean up!
