Our theme this summer is "Iconic Trees of the South Coast ".  So if you have a favorite tree or two that you think we would like to set up and paint, please let me know.  We will have a show with our trees later on.

 Congratulations to Michael W. & Yvonne Ousley.   Michael William Ousley has a triptych called "Mi Vida" and Yvonne Ramirez Ousley has an embellished tapestry called "Skeleton Ball" in the Dia de los Muertos art exhibit at Maude Kerns Art Center, 1910 East 15th Avenue, Eugene, Oregon.  The show runs from October 12, to November 2, 2012.  The opening reception and fiesta, featuring Ballet Folklorico, Mariachi music and Mexican food, will be on October 12th from 6 to 9 PM. 541-345-1571  http://www.mkartcenter.org/index.htm

Prosperous Heart (Julie Cameron) workshop taught by Gina Allison

In September, for twelve weeks we will be meeting Monday evenings to study and follow her newest book Prosperous Heart by Julia Cameron, author of The Artist's Way. $120 for 12 weekly sessions. 
The tools of The Prosperous Heart help people to embrace the life that they actually have, where they often find that they already have “enough.”
In this difficult day and time, what can people do to find prosperity? There are two very practical tools used by my students. The first one is Morning Pages, where they track their dreams, their disappointments, dreams and desires. The second tool is Counting, where they record money in and money out. We often find we are spending money in ways that do not serve us. As we work with these two consciousness-raising tools, we find ourselves spending along the lines of our true values. As a result, we feel we have “more.”

*******West Coast Biennial Juried Exhibition at Turtle Bay , CA
  Submission deadline:  November 9, 2012, 4 p.m.  
 
The Friends of the Arts at Turtle Bay, in cooperation with Turtle Bay Exploration Park , is now accepting entries from artists currently living in California , Oregon , Washington and Alaska for our second biennial juried art exhibition. The aim of the exhibition is to provide a forum for both established and emerging west coast artists in a diversity of media including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture and mixed media.

The juror for the competition is Scott A. Shields, Associate Director and Chief Curator at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento , California .  He will select 40 - 50 artworks from submitted digital images for exhibition at Turtle Bay Exploration Park from January 26 - May 4, 2013.

The show will feature both two and three-dimensional art, including painting, photography, sculpture, and more. There will be a special category for young artists as well.
Awards include Best of Show, Young Artist Awards, and People's Choice Award. First, Second & Third place ribbons will be awarded in the three categories.
