Second Street Gallery in Old Town Bandon is showcasing local
artists through its “Gift of Art” Christmas program
which runs weekends until Christmas. The program allows
patrons to learn about the art form and watch as it is being
created utilizing a wide variety of media.
On Friday, November 25th & Saturday, November 26th, Lauren
Scott will be demonstrating the craft of creating pine
needle baskets. Taught the craft by a Native American Miwok
Indian weaver years ago, Lauren enjoys working with her
hands to create something that is both beautiful and
functional. “My baskets reflect the traditional, ancient
applications of the Northwestern Indians. Each stitch is
carefully placed for strength and beauty,” states Lauren.
Joining Lauren is Jewel Knapp, who will be demonstrating and
creating unique bags of all shapes and sizes made from a
variety of fabrics. Jewel utilizes gorgeous remnants of
upholstery and drapery fabrics to create wonderfully unique
purses and accessory bags. Jewel says “Transforming
remnants into unique bags is magic-and that is what art is
– the sense of experiencing something magic”.
Second Street Gallery is located in the heart Old Town
