This public event features all local talent. The New Seagrass Country Band, and Karen Olsen and her friends are all from the South Coast.  It's going to be a great evening showcasing some of the best of the South Coast.

Big Contra Dance March 14 in Greenacres
The South Coast Folk Society will host a big Contra Dance party at the Greenacres Grange Hall on Saturday evening, March 14.  Singles, couples and families are all welcome. The fun begins at 7PM with dance instruction.  Karen Olsen will teach the simple steps and patterns of this exciting form of light-hearted social dancing.  The dances are so easy to learn that all levels of experience will enjoy dancing together.  After the lesson, Karen, and special guest callers, will call a variety of interesting dances throughout the evening.
Music for our March dance will be provided by The New Seagrass Country Band, a vibrant collection of charismatic musicians from the South Coast featuring Alayne Olmsted and Jennifer Sordyl on Fiddle, Rick Cook on guitar, and Don Berg on Bass.  They will play lively, energizing dance tunes until 10PM.  The program includes contras, circle mixers, and a waltz or two.  First timers who arrive in time for the 7PM lesson will receive a ticket for free admission to their second dance.  This event is alcohol and fragrance free.  Put on your dancing shoes, bring a friend, and join us.
The Second-Saturday Contra Dance is sponsored by the non-profit Folk Society.   Refreshments are available during the dance.  Doors open at 6:45PM.  Admission: General $7, Students w/ID and Seniors over 60 $6, Members $5, and Supervised Children under 6 are free.
