IN MORE
DETAIL
Join Coos Art Museum for an extraordinary lineup of children’s art
classes teeming with creativity and loads of Spring Break fun. Classes take
place 10:00 a.m. to noon each day, March 23 through March 27, 2015. A special
guest instructor will present each day’s topic: Mural Monday, Tangle Tuesday,
Watercolor Wednesday, Art Theory Thursday, and Felting Friday. Sign up for one
or more, or sign up for all of them.
MURAL
MONDAYMonday, March 23, 2015 from 10 a.m. - noon
Spring Break Art Camp opens up on March 23, 2015 with Mural Monday taught by Geraldine Sundstrom. With Geraldine's instruction students will create large mixed media murals that will be displayed in the Art Education Gallery at Coos Art Museum.
TANGLE TUESDAY
Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 10 a.m. - noon
Zentangle® is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. Many fun "tangles" (patterns) will be taught as students are guided by Certified Zentangle Teacher Rosie Hill in creating amazing works of Zentangle art in our Tangle Tuesday class.
WATERCOLOR WEDNESDAY
Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 10 a.m. - noon
Watercolor Wednesday is chock-full of painting essentials. Guest instructor Liv Drahos will work with students on fun projects that teach the basics of color theory, watercolor application and proper mixing techniques.
ART THEORY THURSDAY
Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 10 a.m. - noon
Students will participate in the time-honored academic tradition of sketching existing works of art to learn about composition, perspective, mediums, and much more! With the guidance and instruction provided by Coos Art Museum's Docent Graham Wickham, participants will use artworks displayed during the Permanent Collection & Sculptural Works Exhibition to learn about basic art elements. Each student will receive an art journal to sketch in, add notes about what they have learned, and take home at the end of class.
FELTING FRIDAY
Friday, March 27, 2015 from 10 a.m. - noon
CAM'S Studio to School Coordinator Kathleen Sizemore will be our guest art instructor for Felting Friday. Join her in making a felted bowl using a resist and wet felted technique.
The cost for each
class is $20 for CAM members and $25 for non-members. Or sign up for all five
classes for the discounted price of $90 CAM members and $110 for non-members.
Child must have a current CAM Student Membership or be a part of a Family
Membership (or higher) in order to qualify for the reduced class fee. Annual CAM
Student Memberships are $15. For those that get in touch with us early,
participation is FREE as long as sponsored spaces are still
available.
A limited number of
scholarships are available for eligible children. For scholarship information
