Recepted

It’s time to run for the hills or at least get outta Dodge. The kids have had a full day to stuff down all the candy they racked up on Halloween and now they are so high that you have to scrape them off the ceiling when the Long Sufferin’ says she’ll either commit murder or go completely insane if they don’t shut up and give her a chance to do something with all of the damage they have done running around like wild unspecified indigenous peoples cause you can’t say redskins any more. (Just look at all of the trouble the Washington Unspecified Indigenous People have gotten themselves in and you’ll understand.)

Now do you really want to grab the remote and laze in front of the game all day flipping through channels so that you don’t miss a single down of the Big Game between Lower Eastern Biloxi State and the Fighting Nutrias of Southwestern Upper North Dakota?

No way and best not even think about it so since you have to release your death grip on the remote control, why not head out to The South Slough National Estuarine Reserve and see all the wonderful art you missed when you stayed at home last weekend and didn’t go to the Nieghbor2Neighbor event at the Pony Village Mall.

Just think you tell the Long Sufferin that you have a special treat in store for her and you pack up the restless natives and get in the old sedan and drive out to the reserve, where you can turn the restless natives lose on the Nature Trails while you and the Long Sufferin do the art thing.

The rewards will be many. Have you ever seen the restless natives after they have run off steam in the wilds of a carefully laid on Nature Trail? No because they pass out as soon as they hit the car and then do it all over again when they get home leaving just you and the Long Sufferin with nothing at all to do and no kids to keep you form doing It unless you grab the remote which you had better not do unless you never, ever really want to do It again.

But in addition to getting the jump start on your twice a year doing It you get to see some wonderful art which can inspire many things and might even led to doing It on a more frequent basis and you have to admit that compared to watching the game on television doing It is pretty nice and you might just be willing to put down the remote long enough to miss one or two games and then you would be way ahead on your twice a year doing and that would be a good thing cause all of the Quacks say that doing It is healthy for your heart and you want your heart to be healthy so why wouldn’t you want to go and se all of the art from the Chair-ity Event?

But you have to keep your guard up cause lurking right there between you and the Estuary Reserve is a…bakery. Now if you even slow down the restless natives will see and start whining to stop and load up on sugar again and the you won’t be doing It or anything else much except scraping those restless natives off the ceiling and I know that you would much rather be doing It so watch out for the bakery or…

You could give up the NFL and go to the reception at the Pacific Park Gallery, located at 1957 Thompson Road, Coos Bay 97420 and avoid the bakery problem altogether.

That way you could get credit for turning off the game, getting out of the house, doing something cultural, keeping the restless natives away from the rest of the sugar, and giving the Long Sufferin a chance to spend some quality time with the fantastic quilts at the “Simply Red” quilt exhibit.

Then to you could just glance at the quilts and take a long, lingering look at the photographs of the Ole Trawler and his Long Sufferin and get me some high value Brownie points which would be really appreciated and would go a long way toward making my life more enjoyable which should actually be at the top of your high priority list and then I could lay back and watch my hockey games coming on on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday without the high-pitched drone of the Long Sufferin muttering under her breath and that would make it so much easier to watch the games which would be really nice for me and I think that you should go ahead and do that.

And besides it will get you Brownie points too and if you are anything like the Ole Trawler you can never have too many Brownie points cause it is so easy to get behind and that way you can work up an extra supply and all for the cost of one Saturday or Sunday.

So, let’s review, The Chair-ity Event Art opens at the South Slough Estuary Reserve Saturday, Oct 2, 2013 from 2-4 where you can get your culture on and let the kids destroy Nature or you can save Nature and go to the Pacific Park Gallery reception of Sunday from 1-3 and see great textile art, be recepeted, (It is not painful even though it may sound that way), and enjoy the photographs of the Ole Trawler and his Long Sufferin and if you come then you will get a chance to see the Ole Trawler in the vivid, living-color flesh and you know that you just can’t pass that up so come to the Pacific Park Gallery 1957 Thompson Rd, form 1-3 Sunday and give the NFL a rest.
