South Coast Folk Society

Watch for another email next week with exciting information about the Country Dance and Song Society's upcoming week-long visit to Coos Bay. Meanwhile:
Sunday, June 13, 4-6 p.m., at the North Bend Library. We've got the Rise Up Singing songbooks. Singers, guitarists and pianists welcome! Teach us a new song.
First and third Wednesdays (the 16th) at Liberty Pub, 2047 Sherman Ave, North Bend. Play or listen!
Friday through Sunday, Aug 1-3, at Smith River RV Park, 8451 Lower Smith River Rd Reedsport OR 97467
It's an opportunity for all acoustic musicians to get together, have fun, and learn the tunes for this year's Open Band performances at the South Coast Folk Society contra dance.
"Contra at the Coast" DANCE, to be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday night 8/2, will be a mile down the road here: Smith River Grange Hall #585 - 9850 Lower Smith River Rd Reedsport OR 97467
Find "South Coast Folk Society Open Band Campout" on Facebook and RSVP there, please. Also, post questions & suggestions and volunteer for whatever fun you want to cook up...
The purpose of this campout is to socialize, play tunes & have a dance. The watchword is KISS: Everyone is responsible for their own campsite, meals & transportation. It IS a small campground, so we will have to double up on some of the spaces. First come, first served on the best spots, so pencil in that weekend and plan on being there early!
Smith River RV Park and Marina will give us a group rate of $20/ night RV's/boats & $10/night tents.
Smith River RV Park & Marina has been around for decades. Located right on the Smith River just 10 miles north of Reedsport, offering RV spaces, a marina for boating & lots of beauty. For direct questions about camping, contact Jessica (541) 707-0841 at the RV Park.
We will offer workshops & host a dance at the Smith River Grange Hall on Saturday night at the nearby Smith River Grange Hall #585 - 9850 Lower Smith River Rd, Reedsport OR 97467
Do you have an idea for a workshop or circle? Offer it up! We can paddle around in our kayaks during the day... play tunes by the campfire at night.
Want to get a jump on learning the tunes? The set list is attached. If you are interested in playing with Open Band, even if you can't make the campout, email Jennifer Sordyl,, and she'll send you a link to a Dropbox with all the sheet music and MP3s.
A flyer for the contra dance is attached, too.

Singles, couples and beginners are welcome! Most dances are circle or line dances, so no partners are necessary. Harding Learning Center – in the all-purpose room inside the building; 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Wear comfortable clothes Tuition is $25 for the session. For more information, contact Stacy or 541.808.1002
