PUBLIC LECTURE AT THE OREGON INSTITUTE OF MARINE BIOLOGY

“Marine biodiversity in a time of humans: biodiversity crisis or a resilient living system?”

by Dr. Mary O’Connor, University of British Columbia

Information about speaker:
Dr. Mary O’Connor is a Professor in the Department of Zoology at the University of British Columbia. She received her PhD in 2008 from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her research focuses on the role of biodiversity, temperature and climate change on ecosystem function particularly in eelgrass ecosystems. Additionally, she examines the effects of change in top predators and the influence of invasive species on marine habitats.

The public is invited to hear Dr. Mary O’Connor speak about her research the role of biodiversity and the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology on Wednesday, August 10th at 7pm.  Her talk, titled “Marine biodiversity in a time of
humans: biodiversity crisis or a resilient living system?” will be held at the OIMB boathouse. Please park at OIMB or along Boat Basin Road and walk past the Coast Guard housing to the OIMB boathouse auditorium.
