Coos Art Museum
will host a Day of the Dead Shrines and Shadow Boxes workshop from
11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on both Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24,
2015. With the guidance of instructor Mary Humphrey, participants will construct
a shrine or shadow box reflecting a loved one, pet, saints, or travel
destinations. All skill levels are welcome to come create a special keepsake
using acrylic molding pastes, paints, and glazes and then embellish with beads,
flowers, and other miniature items.
Mary Humphrey has
a B.F.A from the University of Oregon and over 30 years of experience in
bookbinding, paper art, weaving and a multitude of other art and craft
genres.
This workshop is
open to teens and adults. Participants of all skill levels are welcome. Space is
limited to a maximum of 8 participants. The fee is $95 for CAM members
/ $110 non-members. Most of the materials are included in the class fee.
Students will be required to bring some tools. Registration ends October 15,
