Contra Dance This Saturday at Greenacres Grange

There will be a Contra Dance at the Greenacres Grange Hall on Saturday, October 17, from 7-10PM with live music and a  guest caller.  Join the South Coast Folk Society for an evening of light-hearted, easy-to-learn social dancing.  Beginners, singles and families can all join in.  The fun begins at 7PM with a full lesson by our guest caller, Ric Goldman from Portland.  Ric will teach and call a variety of interesting dances throughout the evening.  He is an experienced caller with a large repertoire of exciting dances. First timers who arrive in time for the 7PM lesson will receive a ticket for free admission to their next dance.
The music for this month’s Contra Dance party will be provided by the Outstanding Open Band.  Talented musicians from throughout Coos and Curry Counties will be on stage at the Grange.  It is a musical treat not to be missed.  Together they form one of the best contra dance bands you will ever hear.  They will fill the hall with a variety of wonderful old timey, swing fiddle, Celtic and American contra dance tunes. You can expect danceable sets from smooth jigs, to swing, to rockin’ reels and back.
This public event is sponsored by the non-profit South Coast Folk Society.  Join us every third Saturday at the Greenacres Grange for an evening social dancing to great live music.  This event is alcohol and fragrance free. Refreshments are available.  Doors open at 6:45PM.  Admission: General $7, Students w/ID and Seniors over 60 $6, Members $5, and Supervised Children under 6 are free.
