Sing, sing, sing

There's a lot going in in July and August. Come out and dance! Bring a friend!

It's Sunday, July 12, 4-6 p.m., at the North Bend Public Library. Come take a turn picking a song out of our "Rise Up Singing" books. We've got songs from every era.

Weekend of July 31-Aug. 2, “Contra at the Coast” Camp, jam and socialize for a weekend
Two contra dances at the Sixes River Grange Hall
Featuring the Outstanding Open Band and callers Stacy Rose, Greg McKenzie and Karen Olsen.
Saturday, Aug. 1: Contra Dance 7-10 p.m. $5/adults, children free
Sunday, Aug. 2: Waltzes 1-2 p.m.
Scottish, Folk & English Country Dancing 2-4 p.m.
Campground reservations are strongly recommended (it's Cape Blanco Country Music Festival weekend):
There is another BLM campground 11 miles up the River, too.

Thursday, Aug 6: Fundraiser for South Coast Folk Week – International folk dance demonstration with audience participation at 7 p.m., Liberty Pub, 2047 Sherman Ave., North Bend. Music by Cultural Ecology. Donations accepted.

Sunday, Aug. 9: Second Sunday Sing-Along at North Bend Public Library, 4 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 20: Traditional dance and music demonstration – Part of the “Lifelong Learning” series of events at Ocean Ridge Assisted Living that are open to the public. South Coast Folk Society members will facilitate an hour-long demonstration/audience participation of traditional dance and music. Starts at 2 p.m. at 1855 Ocean Blvd. SE, Coos Bay.

Thursday, Aug. 20: Larry Unger and Audrey Knuth in concert –  7 p.m., Liberty Pub 2047 Sherman Ave., North Bend. $5 cover.

Friday, Aug. 21: Contra/square dance with music by Larry Unger and Audrey Knuth at 7 p.m., Reedsport Community Center, 451 Winchester Ave. Admission by donation.
