Dance in Sixes
SIXES — Camp, jam, socialize and dance at the
South Coast Folk Society's "Contra at the Coast" weekend July 31-Aug. 2
at Sixes Grange, 44556 Highway 101, five miles north of Port Orford. On
Saturday, Aug. 1, enjoy contra dancing and old-time squares 7-10 p.m. to
the lively tunes of the Outstanding Open Band and local callers Greg
McKenzie, Karen Olsen and Stacy Rose. Admission is $5 for adults, and
children are free. No experience is necessary; the caller teaches every
dance. Come promptly at 7 p.m. for a beginners' lesson. On Sunday, Aug.
2, enjoy "Waltzes at One" 1-2 p.m. and then Scottish, folk and English
country dancing 2-4 p.m. At other times during the weekend, join the
Outstanding Open Band for acoustic jams and fun at Edson Creek
Campground.
