DETAIL
Coos Art Museum welcomes Anne Sobbota as guest lecturer
for the first of four lectures taking place Thursdays in October. Join us on
October 9, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. as Anne covers the lecture topic
“How Symbols Speak: The Complexities of Visual Language, Past and Present”.
This lecture will analyze the multi-layered language of symbols, as they have
been historically used to unify and divide civilizations. She will also discuss
the complexities of symbols and the problems associated with “reading” them in
our own contemporary context.
Anne Sobbota earned her Master’s degree in Art History
from California State University, Los Angeles. She taught Ancient to Postmodern
art history courses at Pasadena Community College and Glendale Community College
in Southern California for many years before moving to Bandon. Anne is also a
professional artist and local business owner.
Lecture is free for CAM members and $5 for non-members.
