Public Contra Dance in Greenacres November 8
The public is invited to an enjoyable evening of Country Contra Dances at the Greenacres Grange Hall on Saturday evening, November 8. A popular South Coast band and local caller will be on stage for three hours of light-hearted social dancing starting at 7PM. Dancers of all ages are welcome at this monthly event sponsored by the South Coast Folk Society. New dancers can learn the easy steps and figures of Contra Dancing at 7PM when instruction will be given by our guest caller Greg McKenzie of Coos Bay. The dances are so easy to learn that all levels of experience will enjoy dancing together. Greg will call a variety of interesting dances throughout the evening.
Music for our November 8th dance will be provided by The All Girl Impromptu Pick-Up Band, aka TAGIPUB. These talented ladies are our favorite local dance band. They play an exciting blend of very danceable music. Prepare to tap you feet to their beat as you swing your partner. Contra dancing is appropriate for singles, couples, and families.
The evening’s program includes contras, circle mixers, and a waltz or two. First timers who arrive for the 7PM lesson will receive a ticket for free admission to their next dance. This event is alcohol and fragrance free. Put on your dancing shoes and join us. Refreshments are available during the dance. Doors open at 6:45PM. Admission: General $7, Students w/ID and Seniors over 60 $6, Members $5, and Supervised Children under 6 are free.
