Monday Plein Air Paintout Information
Hello Everyone,
This Monday, July 9th, we will be painting out at Amber Harris' house. We can be there anytime between 12 - 6 p.m. You can arrive at 12 noon and stay until 6 p.m., or leave sooner. Come later in the day, whatever fits your schedule. Bring your lunches, snacks and beverages and painting gear..
Directions: Take either Highway 42 S to Prosper Jct. Rd. or take Hwy 101 north of Bandon to Prosper Jct. Rd (south of the Coquille River Bridge where Riverside Drive meets Hwy 101)
Take PROSPER JCT RD. until you see the entrance on the north side of the road marked GLENWOOD ESTATES. Turn into the entrance road then make a right on Sunny Loop. Watch you speed. Drive east on Sunny Loop, continue until the road curves left, follow it--start looking on the right hand side.
Amber's house has a border of small rocks along the road on each side of her circle drive.
IF YOU GET LOST call me on my cell phone and I will come lead you there. :)
I'm looking forward to painting her madrone tree.
Our theme this summer is "Iconic Trees of the South Coast". So if you have a favorite tree or two that you think we would like to set up and paint, please let me know. We will have a show with our trees later on.
Anyone have beautiful madrone, maple trees, or others, on their property, or know of trees that are accessible to painters and parking of cars, please call me.
*****Our plein air group has been invited to put paintings in the window cases by JoAnn Fabrics in Pony Village Mall during August. So please be figuring out what you want to show, along with label information, etc.
****Here's a link to a Seattle gallery that shows plein paintings from a show there: http://www.lisaharrisgallery.com/artists/plein.php
Thanks, Mike.
My phone number 541-297-6118.

Oregon Arts Commission (OAC) has set a deadline of August 15, 2012 for the first of three deadlines for Career Opportunity Grants. Additional resources from The Ford Family Foundation are available to mid-career visual artists in this cycle.
Career Opportunity Grants support Oregon artists who have identified critical opportunities to advance their careers through the development of artistic, or business and professional skills.
Artists may apply for funding to show in national or international exhibits, to participate in conferences, workshops or residencies, or to explore other ways to expand their knowledge and business base. Up to $1500 may be requested. Emerging and established artists practicing all disciplines are eligible, students and hobbyists are not.
The Ford Family Foundation Opportunity Grants target full-time visual artists in the 30 and over age group. Awards range from $1500 to $7500. Artists apply for The Ford Family Foundation funds in the same manner as the Career Opportunity grants; the applications are reviewed in a single combined process.
"We are very pleased to offer this important support to Oregon artists in partnership with The Ford Family Foundation", said OAC Executive Director Chris D'Arcy. "The Career Opportunity grants have enabled artists to take designs into the commercial marketplace; allowed others to travel to present their work at international fairs and festivals, and provided for the professional recording of new music. These artists are important part of Oregon's creative economy.
Grant applications are evaluated according to the following three criteria.
Artistic Merit 50% quality of work samples, background and experience as demonstrated by resume, samples and other supporting materials.
Career Impact 45% uniqueness of the opportunity, quality of the proposed event, or a clearly defined need for the artistic or business skill proposed to be developed.
Budget 5%: Costs proportional to proposed activity, purpose for which grant funds will be used.
