Second Street Gallery in Old Town Bandon is showcasing local
artists through its “Gift of Art” Christmas program
which runs weekends until Christmas. The program allows
patrons to learn about various art forms and watch as it is
being created utilizing a wide variety of media. On
Saturday, December 17th & Sunday, December 18th, Bandon
artists Susan Lehman & Ava Richey, along with Bandon
photographer Kelle Herrick will be in attendance to
demonstrate their craft.
Susan Lehman works in watercolor as well as collage. She is
inspired by landscapes & seascapes, as well as still life.
Using a variety of rice papers, metallic prayer paper and
Chinese newspaper, Susan adds texture and images before she
begins her painting. In addition to paint, watercolor
pastels and crayons have also been used to further enhance
her imagery.
Ava Richey, coming from a background in fiber arts, now
devotes her full attention to painting. Ava has attended
many local workshops, which are sometimes taught by
nationally recognized artists, and paints with many local
artists, through her weekly plein air painters group, who
have instilled an interest in working in pastels, acrylics
and watercolors, in addition to oils.
“Bring on the Crow Show”, exclaims our own Kelle
Herrick! She knows where the birds are in Bandon on any
given day and has had tremendous success of late in
capturing numerous crows with her digital camera. Kelle
enjoys scrabbling through the underbrush somewhere along the
Oregon Coast, in search of the perfect composition hoping to
catch a few of her feathered friends in the picture.
“Please plan to join us this weekend” states gallery
owner Richard Rahmlow. “The talent you will enjoy this
weekend promises to be memorable”! Second Street Gallery
is located in the heart Old Town Bandon and is open from
10AM to 5PM daily. For additional information about the
gallery, visit www.secondstreetgallery.net or call 347-4133.
