2012 Artists Village

*Good Morning – and thank you for taking a minute to read

this important notice*

Given today’s economy consumers are being very careful of
how they spend their dwindling, expendable dollars. This
decline has had a significant impact on Oregon artists and
the fine arts market. As the co-chairs of the Artists
Committee for the 2012 Artists Village [Art in Mac] we are
writing to you in the hope that you will help us to get the
word out to Oregon artists of an opportunity to increase
their exposure and sell their art.

To give you a little history, 2012 will be the fourth year for our successful Artists Village held in McMinnville, Oregon. As a member of the McMinnville Sunrise Rotary we created this event for three reasons. First, we wanted to develop a fine arts event that would involve a mix of many fine arts mediums – painting, sculpture, pottery, metalwork and also including dance, music and readings. Second, and equally important, it was with the express purpose of helping to develop the arts and to help Oregon artists. Our third goal was to eventually grow this into a fund raiser for our organization – to use any moneys for our work within the community. This last goal was set without a timeframe -since we realize that the most important thing is to first create a successful event for the artists who participate.

To make this a success for artists we have committed to keeping their costs to a minimum. We can do this because the bulk of all the costs will be paid by our sponsors. Below is the information for the Call to Artists that will officially be going out in early January:

• The Artists Village is open to all Oregon artists.

• Dates are: Saturday and Sunday, July 14th and

15th, 2012

• Hours are: Saturday - 10AM to 7PM and Sunday -

10AM to 5PM

• Our beautiful venue will be “under the oaks”

at Linfield College in McMinnville, OR

• This is a Juried event with a non-refundable $25

application fee.

• The proceeds from the application fees are used

to fund three “Best in Show” cash prizes totaling $1000.

• Artists are charged $100 for showing their work for the two-day event, which also includes a 10”x10”

tented, individually divided area for each. They only need to bring any supporting side or back walls to hang

their art.

• A 10% commission is charged on all sales.

• Security will be provided throughout the event,

including Friday evening before the opening, so that artists can set up in advance.

• Optional electricity for two days will be provided

for a nominal cost of $35.

The website for the Artists Village is www.artinmac.org and

will have all this information, an application and much more as early as January 15, 2012.

Our email address is artinmac@gmail.com .

Unfortunately, we don’t have contact information for the

many thousands of artists throughout Oregon. Because of

this we hope that you will help put the word out early

through your contacts to let Oregon artists in your area

know about this great, low cost opportunity.
