People - PORTRAITS MADE EASY

Class offered by Karen Nichols, Wednesday afternoons, 12:30 - 4:30, Beginning March 9th with the last class on March 30th, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Hwy101, in Florence.

A drawing Class with an eye toward painting in oil, acrylic and including practical experience with watercolor, charcoal, pencil and chalks. It will also include skills from Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, a course designed by Betty Edwards to foster creativity and improve drawing skills. When teaching this class to her fifth grade students, all of the children were able to draw a portrait of a president, More importantly, you could easily identify which president they were depicting. All levels of skills can benefit from this class.

3. Getting the proportions right
4. Shading
5 How to draw difficult portrait parts: Eyes, nose, lips, teeth, eyes, hands
6. How to create beautiful skin

Instructor Karen Nichols is a member of Backstreet Gallery, the Brush and Palette Club and the Watercolor Society of Oregon. Her painting and collage pieces have won several awards form the Celebrate Arts, the Siuslaw Library, the Rhoddie Festival and Backstreet art shows. In addition, her art has been displayed at other various venues around Florence. She won the logo design for CERTS and was the artist for the 2010 Empty Bowls Poster, Her work are part of various private collections around the states and as far away as Japan..
