Our first Greenacres Contra Dance of the
new year will be held on Saturday evening, January16, from 7-10PM . We have a special evening planned.
Karen Olsen of Myrtle Point will be calling
with her clear voice and energetic style. She will give a beginners
lesson at 7PM
Rhy and Jackie Thornton of North Bend will be on stage
playing lively dance tunes on fiddle and keyboard throughout the evening.
It's fun social dancing for all ages.

Contra Dance January 16 at Greenacres Grange
All are welcome at the Greenacres Grange Hall on Saturday, January 16, for an evening of light-hearted, easy-to-learn social dancing. Beginners, singles and families can all join in. The fun begins at7PM with a full lesson by our guest caller, Karen Olsen of
Myrtle Point, followed by three hours of contra and circle dances. Karen
will teach and call every dance throughout the evening. She is a local
favorite known for her cheerful demeanor and clear voice. Karen always brings
an exciting selection of dances to the hall, dances appropriate for all
levels. First timers who arrive in time for the 7PM lesson will receive a ticket for free admission to
their next dance.
The music for this month’s contra dance will be provided by Rhy and Jackie Thornton ofNorth Bend . Rhy and Jackie provide the powerful
fiddle playing and dynamic keyboarding of the group Rogue Rebellion. Together,
they will fill the hall with a variety of wonderful old timey, swing fiddle and
fancy guitar playing tunes. You can expect danceable sets from smooth jigs, to
swing, to rockin’ reels and back.
This public event is sponsored by the non-profit South Coast Folk Society. Contra dancing is fun for singles, couples, and families. Join us every third Saturday at Greenacres for an evening social dancing to great live music. This event is alcohol and fragrance free. Refreshments are available. Doors open at6:45PM . Admission:
General $7, Students w/ID and Seniors over 60 $6, Members $5, and Supervised
