Dear Friends of Coos Art Museum:

This is going to be a very busy Friday!

We start the afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00, with the opening Reception for the 2014 Biennial Student Art Exhibition and Vision 2014.

The Student Art Exhibition is an exhibit of works by students from Preschool – 12th grade from Coos, Curry, and western Douglas counties.  This is a free exhibition sponsored by grants from Coquille Tribal Community Fund, Coos County Cultural Coalition and The Autzen Foundation.  These shows are in the main floor galleries and the Clare Wehrle Gallery upstairs.

Vision 2014 is an annual art competition for high school students from through southern Oregon, sponsored in part by Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation.  Vision is in the Atrium and the Mabel Hansen Gallery on the upper floor of Coos Art Museum.  Awards will be given to artists in this exhibition.  Come see who got Best in Show, 1st, 2nd places.  Also given are awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each grade level, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th.  We have some great talent on the southern coast of Oregon.

Both exhibitions are open and free to the public from March 7th to April 12th.

Then:

From 5:00pm to 7:30pm we will participate in the First Friday Wine Walk.  Special etched South Coast Clambake Jazz Festival glass will be available at the Visitor’s Center.  It looks like we may have a fairly nice evening for walking, visiting with friends and businesses, eating and drinks many different wines and just plain having fun.  Come join us and see a very colorful Student/Vision Art Show.

See you Friday,
