Happy Holidays everyone.
We are hosting a public Contra Dance in Coos Bay on Saturday evening, December 5, at the Harding Learning Center.  This dance features the music of the Eugene Barnstormers with Woody Lane calling. Contra dances are easy to learn and appropriate for all ages.

Barnstormers to Play for Coos Bay Contra Dance

Contra dancing is coming to Coos Bay this Saturday, December 5, at 7 o’clock.  This light-hearted form of social dancing is easy to learn, and lots of fun for the whole family.  There will be three hours of live music at the
Harding Learning Center located at 755 South 7th.  For this special event, a guest caller from Roseburg, Woody Lane, will teach every move and figure you need to know.  Woody is an experienced caller with an exciting repertoire of dances.  He will give a lesson at 7PM, and first timers who show up for this lesson will receive a ticket for free admission to their next dance.
Contra dancing in
Coos Bay is sponsored by the South Coast Folk Society.  They invite the public to enjoy a full evening of contra, circle and square dances.  Singles, couples and families are all welcome, and no partner is needed. The music for this month’s Community Contra Dance will be provided by The Eugene Barnstormers.  The Barnstormers are a perennial favorite of the local dance community.  Their infectious rhythms will make you feel like dancing all night.  They play lively old-timey music which blends seamlessly with Woody’s calling.
The Folk Society hosts Contra Dances every first Saturday at the
Harding Learning Center, and every third Saturday at the Greenacres Grange.   Both venues offer a full evening of social dancing to great live music.  These events are alcohol and fragrance free.  Refreshments are available.  Doors open at 6:45PM.  Admission: General $7, Students w/ID and Seniors over 60 $6, Members $5, and Supervised Children under 6 are free.
