Sage Place Celebrates Nature with Local Artists, at the Bandon Public Library
The "Fall Inspirations", of Coos Bay artists Donna and Ron Wright, and "Images of Nature", by Coquille artist Kimberly Wurster, are cause for celebration, Saturday, November 8th, at the Bandon Public Library.  The Artists and Sage Place/Gallery invite the public to view works and enjoy demonstrations at a reception, in the Library's Sprague Room, from 2-4 pm.  All widely collected and highly recognized for excellence throughout their careers, these self-taught professionals share a common bond in capturing the dynamic and intricate details found in the natural landscape, birds, and wildlife.
Kimberly Wurster's pastel, watercolor, and acrylic paintings will line the Library gallery walls through November 30th.  She began painting in 1995 and has an extensive resume of juried competitions, winning awards of excellence, both domestic and international.   Highly appreciated for her delicate style and accuracy of representation, Kim regularly has work on exhibit at the Coos Art Museum and was awarded a solo show in 2008, after winning the CAM Biennial.   Her works are often displayed at the South Slough Estuary, may be seen at Truffles, Bandon, and, like the Wrights, she has been represented by Sage Gallery for several years.
Artist Ron Wright, has been achieving lifelike qualities in his Tupelo, epoxy, and acrylic songbird carvings, for nearly 20 years.   Ron has always enjoyed breathing delicate life into his birds, and finds that a challenge as he works with inanimate and rigid materials.  His carvings have garnered multiple Best of Show awards in the Pacific Flyways national competitions.  Ron's songbird carvings, like Wurster's paintings, were also featured in the Coos Art Museum's, "For the Birds" show in 2013.  Ron was a college instructor for many years and has been a guest instructor in wood carving and, his other passion, bonsai, at Sage Place.  His carvings will be featured in the Library cases.
Donna Wright, a pioneer in "experimental poured watercolor techniques".  Her larger than life watercolor images capture the drama of nature, as do her works in pastel, acrylics and collage.  Donna has received many prestigious awards and has been published in art books and journals throughout her 40 year career.  Her work was most recently featured on the cover of "Splash 13", by North Light Books.   Donna has also been included in several exhibits at the Coos Art Museum and has taught her techniques at colleges, in California and locally at SOCC.  She will be a guest instructor at Sage Place, November 16th.  Interested individuals may call (541) 329-0303, to register for her "Pour It On" watercolor workshop.
