Hi Everyone,

Thanks to Sarita for providing a wonderful painting day last Monday. Beautiful day and place, and the resulting paintings were impressive.

Heritage Place (Assisted Living), has invited us to come back and paint up on the 3rd floor overlooking the Bandon South Jetty, river and ocean. There is a community room with tables to paint at, and an outside deck. Also a couple of alcoves, and another small outside area on the east side of the building. Or if the weather allows, and you could paint down on the grounds, or at the jetty then join us in the building at 2:30 for critique.

You can paint at the tables, or set up easels inside or out, but bring a floor covering to put under your easel if painting inside please. Please bring your lunch and beverage.

Parking is in the back (south side) and east side of the building. It is easiest to enter in the back of the building and take the stairs or elevator one flight up to the 3rd floor. If you enter on the east side, take the elevator up to the 3rd floor, then the hallway to the center of the building, room on the right with all the windows.

Hope to see you there. My phone is 347-4643 or 297-6118.
Ava

The Poetry of Collage Sunday, March 28, 2010 1-5

Use collage to express a favorite poem, song lyric, or a few sentences of prose!

Inspired by the collages of Romare Bearden and the poetry of Langston Hughes,

Susan will guide you through the process of creating a four-page collaged booklet that expresses visually the words you have either written or collected. The psychology of color and emotion, darkness and light, will be explored, along with the visual implications of transfers and transparencies. Illustrations do not have to be literal; mood and feeling can add to the collaboration.

This afternoon workshop is open to both beginning and experienced artists and writers who wish to delve into the correlation between the visual language of poetry and the visual expression of collage. A favorite short poem can be brought with you, or you can use the “Poem Can” in class to create one. Haiku poem structure will be explained

and books of poetry will be on hand. Acrylic gels and glazes will be used; so dress for mess!

Any questions please contact dorothea tortilla at DorotheaTortilla@msn.com $45/all materials provided sign-up deadline March 20 class size limited to 8
