Beautify New Years

SO IT GOES PRESENTS ACCIDENTAL BEAUTY, A NEW ART SHOW FEATURING THE DEBUT OF ARTIST MATTHEW JAMES WITH MUSIC FROM THE EUROPA DUET

Born in Anaheim, California in (YEAR REDACTED), Matthew James began his art career from the simple pencil and paper his mother gave him to keep him busy and out of the way. After years of practice, he never looked back.

A graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design, and then a very difficult economy, Matthew decided to return to his first love by creating a collection of highly personal art. In some, he hopes to convey the beauty of the world around you that may have gone unnoticed until a special moment ("Royal Street"). In others, he wants to remind you that the more things change, the more they stay the same ("Bless this House"). In others ("Winter Concert") he wants to show how the best compositions come from little, spontaneous moments.

He gets his approach by putting inspirations like the photography of LIFE Magazine, the art of Edward Hopper, Andrew Wyeth and RIchard Estes, and everyday life in a blender. "Profundity is assigned by the audience, not the artist," he says. "If I can find a way to get you to stop and realize that life is pretty beautiful after all, then I've done my job."

The Europa Duet are Rhy and Jackie from Southern Oregon. Infamous for their work in dancejam sensation the Rogue Rebellion, the Europa Duet features gypsy jazz and funk in classic style with accordion, fiddle, guitars, and keys. You can see more of them at EuropaDuet.com

This champagne art opening and performance is free and takes place Thursday, January 5th at 7pm at So It Goes Coffeehouse. 190 Central Ave, Coos Bay, Oregon, 97459. 541.808.9333.
