Join Coos Art Museum for an extraordinary lineup of children’s art classes teeming with creativity and loads of Spring Break fun. Classes take place 10:00 a.m. to noon each day, March 21 through March 25, 2016, with two separate sessions on Friday (ages 6-9 from 10am to noon, ages 10-12 from 1pm-3pm) A special guest instructor will present each day’s topic: Collaging with Libbi, Tangling with Rosie, Figure Drawing with Josie, Art Theory with Graham, and Felting with Jenn. Spring Break Art Camp opens up on March 21, 2015 with Collage with Libbi. With Libbi's instruction students will learn to use torn and cut paper like paint to create texture and depth. All the supplies will be offered and an option of two images to choose from so that each student can leave with a finished piece.

Zentangle® is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. This class will introduce the basics of Zentangle. Many fun "tangles" (patterns) will be taught as students are guided in creating amazing works of Zentangle art. And everyone gets to keep their Zentangle kits so they can keep on tangling.

WEDNESDAY – FIGURE DRAWING WITH JOSIE

Learn to tips and tricks for drawing people. Students will learn how to gesture sketch and capture poses from a live, clothed model. Explore ink, charcoal, graphite and other materials to describe the figure.

THURSDAY – ART THEORY WITH GRAHAM
Thursday, March 24, 2016 10 am - noon
Students will participate in the time-honored academic tradition of sketching existing works of art to learn about composition, perspective, mediums, and much more! With the guidance and instruction provided by Coos Art Museum's Docent Graham Wickham, participants will use artworks displayed during the Permanent Collection & Sculptural Works Exhibition to learn about basic art elements. Each student will receive an art journal to sketch in, add notes about what they have learned, and take home at the end of class.

Friday, March 25, 2016 from 10 a.m. - noon for ages 6-9 and 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. for ages 10-12
There will be 2 sessions of felting on Friday. In the morning students ages 6-9 will be making felt beads that can be strung together into a necklace and in the afternoon, the older kids will have a chance to make a three dimensional project.

The cost for each class is $20 for CAM members and $25 for non-members. Or sign up for all five classes for the discounted price of $90 CAM members and $110 for non-members. Child must have a current CAM Student Membership or be a part of a Family Membership (or higher) in order to qualify for the reduced class fee. Annual CAM Student Memberships are $15.
A limited number of scholarships are available for eligible children. For scholarship information contact the Art Education Department at (541) 267-3901.
Children ages 6 years to 12 years of age. All skill levels welcome. Each class will be limited to a maximum of 12 participants. Online registration is available at www.coosart.org. Registration ends March 17, 2016.
