NOT A FOLK SOCIETY EVENT, BUT STILL INTERESTING
An exhibit called "Musical Instruments @ Coos Art Museum" will start Friday, Dec. 11 and run through Feb. 13 in the Uno Richter Atrium Gallery at the museum. Curated by Gail Elber, the exhibit brings together instruments by 10
Oregon makers. Bring a tablet or smartphone and your earbuds and watch a video about each instrument in the gallery. The opening reception is 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11. Throughout the exhibit, some of the makers will be at the museum 1-4 p.m. on Saturday afternoons for "play days" with their instruments and presentations about their work.  Visit coosart.org after Dec. 11 to see the videos and the schedule of presentations, as well as the museum's hours. Normal museum admission charges apply.
