World Music Concert and Dance Coming to Langlois March 31
The World Music Concert and Dance is coming to Langlois on Sunday, March 31, from 5-8PM. Great music and festive social dancing are on tap at this exciting event. The South Coast Folk Society is pleased to announce that the Kef Brass Dance Band from Eugene will be making a special appearance at the Langlois Cheese factory, 94179 Allen Boice Drive.
Kef is a premier dance band that has received praise at venues throughout the Pacific Northwest for the quality of their music and the authenticity of their sound. This event is a Balkan/International dance festival, open to the public, with a free dance workshop in the afternoon to learn basic Balkan village dances from 3:00-4:30, and a dance party in the evening with Kef playing music from 5-8, all at the Langlois Cheese Factory.
The nine musicians in the Kef Brass Band have honed their talent over the past twelve years playing for audiences from Seattle to San Francisco. The band features trumpets, baritones, flugelhorn, euphonium, sousaphone, percussion, accordion, and vocals. Their music is infused with energy and grace. Its distinctive sound is delightful. Kef plays a wonderful variety of dance music from Eastern Europe and around the world. From Balkan village folk melodies to lively dance grooves, all their music is a joy to hear and a pleasure to dance to.
Local dance instructors Paul Poresky and Kef band member Sharon Rogers will lead the free afternoon workshop to enhance everyone’s enjoyment of the evening dance party. Thanks to the support of the local business sponsors listed below, the cost for the evening dance party is just $12.00. Students are free. Both events are alcohol and fragrance free. Potluck refreshments are welcome. Doors open at 2:30. For more information call 541-404-8267.
The South Coast Folk Society is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, study, teaching, enjoyment, and continuing evolution of traditional and historical dance, music, and song.
