Samaras/Samsara

Last month for me to be 76....have spent this year contemplating the spirit of revolution as well as the wisdom of the I Ching/ the Book of Changes.  Asking about this exhibit I got:#52/ KEN/ The Mountain/ Keeping Still (Meditation)——turning into #30/ LI- Fire, the Clinging( clarity, illumination, devotion, synergy).  Will bring my books and pennies on the 16th for anyone who would like to consult the ancient oracle, which was part of the process of creating this series of winged maple seed paintings (“SAMARAS/ SAMSARA”)

See you can be the brilliant raconteur at every occasion for just half a day at Pacific Park Gallery's  Observations show!

And you can even see what the Ole Trawler does when he is not wasting time on the Internet.

Get Some Technique

Susan Lehman will be demonstrating her acrylic collage techniques this coming Saturday, July 6th,

at Second Street Gallery’s Meet and Greet the Artist Program.

She has developed an “embedded collage” way of working where she uses handmade textured paper

and fabric scraps underlying her paintings.

Come and see some of her latest collages and say hello from 12-4 pm.

                                    Call to Artists July 2019

“LOOKING UP!”

Works can be scenes from a bug’s eye view, your eyes, or your mind’s eye.

Think treetops, day or night sky views, cloud scenes, mountain tops, outer 

space, or other ideas you dream up that relate to the theme.

The Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center will host a show of artworks 

relating to the theme of Looking Up! This show runs July through September 

2019.

As usual you can be creative in your interpretation of the theme, keeping in 

mind that art on the hospital walls is meant to entertain and de-stress the 

patients, families, staff, and general visitors.  It is not a venue for 

nudity, violence, morbidity, or as a political soapbox. Thank you for your 

continued positive approach to art in these shows.

Artists may enter 1-3 pieces using painting, collage, mixed media, drawing, 

photography or assemblage in all artistic styles: representational, 

abstract, impressionistic, or futuristic.  All works must be able to be hung 

on the wall.

Show Calendar:

Show runs July, August and September 2019

Reception:  Sunday, July 7, 2019    1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Delivery of Art:

Wednesday, July 3, 2019  2 p.m.

Bring ready-to-hang art with your paperwork to the cafeteria area at 

Southern Coos Hospital on Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m., or make alternative 

arrangements with show organizers.

We'll be at North Point Realty during Wine Walk tomorrow. Whether you participate in Wine Walk or not, you can browse and shop, then we'll hold your packages till you've been to see the Tall Ships and all the other shops.

Several important events coming up quickly at Black Market Gourmet:

Sunday May 5, 2019: Art Reception featuring the photography of our talented and world traveller Robert Levy.  Reception is 2-4 p.m., come and meet the artist, vote on your favorite photos, enjoy some nibbles and non-alcoholic beverages.  Beer and Wine is available for purchase.  Free and open to the public!

Sunday May 12, 2019 is MOTHER'S DAY!  Black Market Gourmet will host our Mother's Day Buffet Brunch from 11:30-3:15.  Seating is at 11:30, 12:15, 1:00, 1:45, 2:30 and 3:15.  Lots of great dishes including plant based, yummy entrees, salads/sides, desserts and sparkling (adult beverages and sparkling cider).  Cost: $30.00 for adults, $15:00 for kids 5-12 years old and no charge for children under 5.  Reservations are required, so please call: 541.269.0194.   If you respond to this email and do not get a conformation, please follow up with a telephone call.
