IN MORE DETAIL
Kimberly Wurster presents Depth and Detail in Pastel, an adults only, pastel workshop on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Coos Art Museum. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to learn how this internationally recognized artist creates her deep, out-of-focus backgrounds and amazing detail with dry pastel.

Using a variety of pastel sticks and pastel pencils, Kimberly will show participants how to create their own masterpieces using the methods she applies in her award-winning paintings. The primary focus of this class will be to teach how to apply the pastel to the paper in order to create the lifelike quality for which her work is known. Using imagery of local woodlands, the instructor will demonstrate how to control edges for believable depth in backgrounds and how to blend for precise detail in foreground subjects such as moss and ferns.

A classical cellist for over thirty years, Kimberly shifted her artistic focus in 1995 to painting fine art. With no formal art training, she continuously draws on her experience as an outdoor enthusiast and a lifelong love for the natural world. Her work has earned numerous awards for excellence in domestic and international competition.

Cost is $90 for CAM members, $110 for non-members. All materials are included in the workshop fee. Participants will be using the same quality and grade of materials as used by Kimberly. Online registration is available at www.coosart.org or contact the Art Education Department at (541) 267-3901. Class size is limited to 8 participants. Some pastel experience preferred.
