Small Wonder



Small works done with pen &ink and watercolor, some from this winter's camping trip to New Mexico and Texas; works created with ART RAGE and printed on my Computer; and a few companion pieces to "MOTHER JAPAN" which is on display through June at the Coos Art Museum, will be at the Coos Bay Public Library during the month of May.  You are all invited to a reception on SATURDAY MAY 13th from 4-6 pm in the conference room at the library.  Susan Lehman will also be having a reception from 3-6 pm at the Pacific Park Medical Center gallery on that same day, with Mark Tierney playing guitar for that event.

Art by the Sea Gallery and Studio in Bandon, Oregon is currently looking for artists interested in teaching classes. 

There is room for six students in classroom area. 

Classes can take place any day of the week between the hours of 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Start Small



Art by the Sea Gallery would like to invite artists to participate in the upcoming 8th Annual Old Town Miniature & Small Works Show.

Drop-off dates are Sunday, April 30th and Monday, May 1st at the gallery between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. both days.
We invite you to enter 1-3 pieces of artwork.

The show will run from May 3rd to June 3rd, 2017.

There are ribbons and cash awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the miniature category and the small works category.  Sizes are explained in the attachment above.  There will also be honorable mention ribbons awarded in each category.

The judge for this show is J.M. (Jeanne) Steele, well-known painter of Western themes and landscapes.

We hope you will participate in the show, and/or attend the reception which will be held Saturday, May 13th from 3 – 5 p.m.

COOS BAY SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR SHAKESPEARE’S HENRY THE FIFTH

Three local theater companies (Logos Players, Dolphin Players and Little Theater on the Bay) team up this summer for a full Shakespeare production at Mingus Park in Coos Bay, directed by John Beane.

Greetings heroes, barbarians, vagabonds and fiends! Coos Bay Shakespeare in the Park (comprised of the Logos Players, Dolphin Playhouse, and Liberty Theatre players) proudly presents HENRY V, directed by John Beane.

This summer, Mingus Park will explode with righteous victories and unbridled heroics. Shakespeare’s inspirational action thriller will be presented in full combat glory, and we need you!

Calling all ages/genders/ethnicities. The company will perform more than 30 roles in telling the tale of Agincourt. The shows will be presented in the afternoon in July. We will consider any gender/ethnicity etc for any role. All ranges of acting experience are welcome.

All auditions at Mingus Park. Please prepare a short passage of any kind of classic text of at least a minute. There will be sides from the production as well. The show will feature great amounts of stage combat; actors will be instructed in a stage combat training regimen through rehearsal.

Rehearsals will be May 16th through July 21st. Performances are Friday and Saturday, July 22nd and 23rd, and 29th and 30th at 2pm at Mingus Park.
