Classy Classics

Do not miss the chance to get up close and personal with these great classic cars before you have to pay for the view at Shore Acres!

Where were you in '62, maybe in the backseat of one of these or if you are too young to know about submarine races and backseats maybe you saw American Graffiti? It doesn't matter the memories these great vehicles made and the anticipation each model change created brought the Soundtrak of the Sixties to life.

Even before there was Rock'n'Roll there were great cars and now you can see them and not just have to dream about them.

Join the rest of the cats and chicks at Baycrest Village. Have a burger, have a float cause the Wolfman would be there if he could, Ya'll come hear?

Changing Changes

Hi everyone,

There are 3 changes to Carole's email that was sent out last week--an addition, a change of fees for the plein air day, and a cancellation.

Hope to see you at at least one of Carole's offerings this fall.

First:     En Plein Air!  Come paint the the beautiful Florence docks with us!  It is supposed to be fantastic weather this Saturday! Saturday, September 13th is the day to plein air paint on the scenic Florence docks, weather permitting.  We will meet at the docks at 9:30 am. (I will collect fees at that time.)   We will set up either on the boardwalk or dock area to spend the day together. Carole will instruct and demo both in the morning and the afternoon.  She will also walk around and assist/comment/instruct/encourage as long as you're within a close proximity of her. Cost is $50.   Lunch is on your own. Please register by email and if you can't make it that morning, be kind, and please let me know as soon as possible.

Second:  Come Check Me Out!  Announcing an Absolute Beginner's Watercolor Class.  Carole will paint a fun loose watercolor demonstrating the various watercolor techniques and bright beautiful colors she uses.  She will also start with the basics:  what materials to purchase and where, a discussion of what watercolor is all about, terminology, color washes, mixing etc.  It's a relaxed time to ask questions, and take pictures.  The first class is Free and you will not have to paint.  No Pressure!
Carole has set up Thursday, October 16th  from 1:00 - 3:00 pm for prospective students to come to Carole's home studio to explore this wonderful exciting medium.
There is a limit of 12 interested people so email Charlene Wilson at charwilson66@gmail.com or call 541-997-8676 to reserve your space.  Future classes will be held on Thursday afternoons October 30th, November 6th, 13th, and 20th,  from 1:00 - 4:00.  Cost is $100 for 4 sessions.

Third:  October 4th:  Carole has cancelled  the demonstration at the FRAA's demARTS  due to her watercolor "Barnum and Bailey" acceptance into the WSO show.  She will be in Medford at the Watercolor Society of Oregon's big gathering.

Fourth:  "Painting the Oregon Coast---Fog, Wind, Waves, and Water" Watercolor Workshop
has been scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 24th and 25th.  Cost is $150.  Send in your registration early for this wonderful informative and fun workshop.  We live in Oregon so we might as well learn to paint the beautiful moist blue grays of our foggy winter days. Carole will be painting on canvas but you may choose to paint on either your watercolor paper or watercolor canvas.
Looking ahead:  Painting Watercolor Canvas:  Wet, Wild, and Bold at the Emerald Art Center, Springfield, Oregon, February 10 - 12, 2015.  Write the date on your calendar and more information to come.
Please "like" Carole on Facebook:  Carole Hillsbery watercolor to see Carole's new artwork, her schedule of classes, student artwork, etc.

You can view Carole's work at the Earthworks Gallery in Yachats, Backstreet Gallery in Florence, the Mind Power Gallery in Reedsport, or on her website:  www.carolehillsbery.com

Carole is a national award winning artist and a signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, the Arizona Watercolor Association, and the Watercolor Society of Oregon.

Please feel free to forward this email to anyone who might be interested in exploring watercolor this summer.  Thank you.  Questions?  Email me at charwilson66@gmail.com.

On that page, please check out the list of things we need, like ambassadors to speak to community groups, community groups to speak to, and testimonials about how much you like traditional music and dance.

Tasteful Watercolors arrive at Black Market Gourmet

The Watercolor Society of Oregon (WSO) 49th annual aqueous media exhibit Traveling Show will be on exhibit at Black Market Gourmet from September 4th to 30th. The public is invited to the Opening reception on Sunday, September 7th  from 2 to 4 pm. The venue is located at 495 Central Avenue, Coos Bay, and the exhibit is open Tuesday through Friday 11 am to 6 pm, (subject to catering schedules) or by appointment.

This collection of the 20 award-winning works was selected from the 80 works juried into WSO's annual Spring Exhibition by California artist and juror Robert Burridge. The Traveling Show tours Oregon for five months and will conclude at this location.

Co-Owner of Black Market Gourmet, Kristin Hoefer, states, "We're pleased to present this diverse selection of outstanding original water media works, and share them with art lovers, diners, and visitors to our region.

The WSO has a long tradition of featuring many of Oregon's finest water media painters, working in a broad spectrum of styles from traditional themes to semi-abstract visions, from portraits to celebrations of nature. Each artist demonstrates an advanced facility to interpret their subjects in dynamic compositions with highly personalized color palettes and brush strokes".

WSO is a statewide non-profit watercolor organization in its 49th year, with over 900 members.  The society is committed to furthering the interest of aqueous watermedia, which includes watercolor and acrylic paintings, by providing educational opportunities both for its members and others interested in the visual arts. Visit their website at  www.watercolorsocietyoforegon.com to learn more about WSO exhibitions and activities.

For further viewing information, you may contact Kristin Hoefer at 541 269-0194.
