January Contra Dance in Greenacres Saturday the 10th
Join the South Coast Folk Society for an enjoyable evening of contra dancing at the Greenacres Grange Hall on Saturday evening, January 10. This public event features three hours of great live music, instruction, and a guest caller from Myrtle Point. Karen Olsen will teach the basics of contra dance at 7PM. Karen has years of experience and loves to call exciting dances that are easy to learn and fun for all ages and abilities. Singles, couples and families can all attend this monthly gathering. New dancers are welcome to experience this new, light-hearted form of social dancing. The dances are so easy to learn that all levels of experience will enjoy dancing together.
Music for our January 10th dance will be provided by The South Coast Open Contra Band. These talented musicians volunteer their time and talent to practice and then play for our local gatherings, and their music is wonderful. They play an exciting blend of very danceable music. Prepare to tap you feet to their beat as you do-si-do and swing your partner.
The evening’s program includes contras, circle mixers, and a waltz or two. First timers who arrive for the 7PM lesson will receive a ticket for free admission to their next dance. This event is alcohol and fragrance free. Put on your dancing shoes and join us. Refreshments are available during the dance. Doors open at 6:45PM. Admission: General $7, Students w/ID and Seniors over 60 $6, Members $5, and Supervised Children under 6 are free.
