Big Chance
Dear Friends and Members of the Coos Art Museum,
We are currently looking for a person to fill the position of Lobby Manager at Coos Art Museum.
This is a great position for someone who wants to work 24 hours per week, work with the public and volunteers.
Some of the duties of the position are listed below, days and times may vary depending on the current exhibition.

Designed for the artistically
adventurous, Coos Art Museum’s “Product Sampler Class” on Saturday, September
13, 2014 from 10 a.m. to noon provides participants the opportunity to
experiment with a variety of specialized art products under the knowledgeable
guidance of Holly Rodenkirk from Art Connection.
In this fast paced sampler
class, participants will be working on paper, glass, fabric and plastic using
various products from Art Connection such as multi-surface acrylic paint,
alcohol inks, dimensional fabric paint, adhesives and stencils. Each student
will go home with a sampler book of techniques as reference and inspiration.
Great for anyone willing to experiment and try new things; no experience
required.
Fee: $10 CAM members / $15
non-members. Art Connection is providing the instructor and materials for
free. All class fees go to Coos Art Museum’s children’s art education
scholarship fund. The fund is designed to provide access to art classes for
children of families with financial challenges.
Important Notes: Wear old
clothes or an apron. Bring scissors, x-acto knife w/ new blade, and any
favorite stencils. Media: variety. Skill level: all skill levels welcome. Age
Range: teens and adults. 6 participants min./12 participants max. Register

Free At Last
Subject: One FREE ($195 value) space in John Hewitt Workshop
We are giving away ONE FREE spot in the upcoming John Hewitt Watercolor Workshop (8/23-8/25). Someone had signed up, but due to a last minute change of circumstances is unable to attend. He has *very* graciously donated his enrollment "to a deserving budding artist."
So here are the parameters:
1) reply to this email with your contact information,
2) tell us why you are a "deserving budding artist",
3) you have to be 18 years of age or older (sorry, the class is adults only) and
4) you must be available this Saturday, Sunday and Monday (8/23-8/25) from 10am to 4pm to participate in all three days of the workshop.

Calling all Artists, Crafters, Authors, Photographers - Art Fair –September 20th – Old Downtown Reedsport. Also seeking donations of Art.
The 2nd Annual Art Fair will
be held in old downtown Reedsport, Oregon from 10 am to 5 pm on
Saturday, September 20, 2014. This event coincides with the local
Battle of Bones cook off and contest and the 25th Anniversary
Celebration of the Mindpower Gallery. Artists, crafters, authors,
photographers, and others who have original or hand crafted items and
who would like to participate in this Art Fair should contact Kathleen
Miller at 271-2101 or kkmiller@reedsportlaw.com to sign up for one of the free limited spaces.
Vendor Spaces - Plans
are underway to make room for vendor spaces on the sidewalk all along
the Highway 38 (between the Post Office and the Eagles/ORCA Gallery).
Everyone will be responsible for all their own needs, such as table and
chairs, and will work directly with the public with regards to their art
or products as this is an informal event and no fees or commissions
will be imposed by CDABA.
Art Donations - CDABA
is once again seeking donations of art – art pieces of all types are
welcome---both new or secondary. Artists and owners of art are
encouraged to donate paintings, ceramics, wood crafts, and other
mediums. The proceeds of the sale will support CDABA and its programs.
People who wish to donate pieces of art should contact Kathleen Miller

This year’s Battle of the Bones
cook off and contest will feature a variety of chefs who will be
putting their best foot forward to make crowd please BBQ. Tasting the
BBQ is $10. All proceeds go to local charities.
The
Mindpower Gallery is celebrating its 25 years of business on Friday,
September 19, 2014, with a special reception ad show featuring artwork
by artists who have exhibited their work of the years, as well as a
local artist challenge exhibit. The celebration will continue on
Saturday, September 20th as a part of this year’s Art Fair.
The Art Fair will be an open air event---rain or shine---no there is no fee to attend or exhibit.
Penultimate Call
Just a reminder that Coos Art Museum’s “Call to
Photographers” for our upcoming Photography
Exhibition in December has a deadline that is only a week and
a half away. August 30th is the deadline to have
your submissions postmarked by in order to get a chance to be
juried in.

guidelines to enter.
