Poer Play

POLITICAL THEATER FROM THE #METOO AND #TIMESUP MOVEMENTS SET WITH STAGED READING OF THEATRE UNCUT: THE POWER PLAYS COMING TO SO IT GOES COFFEEHOUSE
Theatre Uncut is back with THE POWER PLAYS: a new series of brand-new of short plays written by some of the UK's most dynamic female playwrights exploring the theme of power from the female perspective.
Responding to current gender politics, including the #timesup and #metoo movements, the confirmed writers are diverse and wide-ranging in their backgrounds and professional experience.
This marks the second year that So It Goes Coffeehouse has participated in the monthlong series of international performances of the pieces. The subject changes each year.
"As the world rocks with the fierce debate around gender equality, we wanted set our writers the challenge to explore the theme of power from the female perspective. We are delighted to be working with a collection of the UK's most dynamic playwrights, some who have written for Theatre Uncut before and some for the first time. We can't wait to see how people use the plays to take part in the global debate, joining with Theatre Uncut at this immensely exciting moment in history." - Hannah Price and Emma Callander, Co-Artistic Directors of Theatre Uncut

On Friday June 22nd at 7pm a staged reading of the plays will be performed at So It Goes Coffeehouse, 190 Central, Downtown Coos Bay. The event will be free and discussion encouraged.

Theatre Uncut aims to provoke debate and galvanise action by making new political theatre available for everyone, everywhere.

Outstanding Open Band

THE OUTSTANDING OPEN BAND
And dance calling by KAREN OLSEN from North Bend

Free Public Contra Dance at Sixes Grange on Saturday, JUNE 16

The Curry County Cultural Coalition is pleased to announce another free public Curry Contra Dance at the Sixes Grange Hall on Saturday evening, June 16 from 7 – 10 p.m.!

Did you miss the first Curry Contra Dance at the Sixes Grange in April?  Over 70 folks of all ages had an old fashioned good time, gathering as a community to enjoy dance, live music, and each other!
Don’t miss the next dance, coming up on June 16.  The South Coast Folk Society will bring back The Outstanding Open Band, with over a dozen very talented musicians all from the South Coast.  Karen Olsen, a skilled caller with many years of experience, will teach, and then call all the dances. Side of the Tide Morris Dances will also provide entertainment during the break.

Don’t fret if you can’t bring a partner to dance!  A partner will be found for you.  Even if you do come with a dancing partner, at a Contra Dance you can exchange partners regularly.  Singles, couples and families can all enjoy contra dancing.  And don’t worry if you don’t know how to do this sort of dancing:  at the last event, almost half of the attendees (including little grade school kids) had never contra danced before, were taught the moves, and had a great time!

Put on your dancing shoes, wear light comfortable clothing, and come and dance with us!

How blessed we are to have the Curry County Cultural Coalition and the Oregon Cultural Trust to bring Contra Dancing to our community!  Doors open at 6:45, and refreshments will be served.  For information on the Curry Contra Dances call Kristi at 541-332-9295 or Jo at 541-348-2174.

The South Coast Folk Society is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, dedicated to the preservation, study, teaching, enjoyment, and continuing evolution of traditional and historical dance, music and song.  Thank You.
